Journal Star headlines now available on Amazon Alexa

Your local news is now available as part of your daily Amazon Alexa Flash Briefing thanks to the Journal Star’s new collaboration with Amazon.

Greek to you? Similar to Apple’s Siri, the Alexa personal assistant can be found on Amazon’s Echo, Echo Dot, Fire TV and tablet products. Alexa listens for simple voice commands and can “speak” to return answers to questions and accomplish other tasks.

Beyond Amazon’s products, Alexa apps are available for Android and iOS devices.

To add Journal Star headlines:

1. Go to Settings inside your Alexa app and choose “Flash Briefing.”
2. Select “Get more Flash Briefing content.”
3. On the next screen, search for your “Journal Star” by name or “Peoria” for city.
4. Tap the logo, and then “Enable Skill.”

From there, you should be all set. The next time you ask Alexa for your Flash Briefing (just say “Alexa, what’s new?”), you will hear the top local headlines.
