Vodafone Germany launches global NB IoT ideas challenge

Vodafone Germany and innovation management group Hyve have launched the Connected X Challenge enabling people from around the world to enter their innovative products and services for Narrowband IoT (NB IoT).The platform is open for everyone to register and bring in their ideas while commenting on and evaluating use cases posted by other members. It also opens up the possibility of teaming up with others for jointly developing or improving on suggestions. The ideas can be submitted until 14 December of this year. There are nine categories for ideas: Connected Car, Connected Business, Connected Cities, Connected Consumer Electronics, Connected Energy and Metering, Connected Health, Connected Home, Connected Industry and Connected X for ideas that do not fit the other eight categories.

A jury including four directors of Vodafone Germany and two university professors will decide on 10 winners of which the first three will receive a cash price (EUR 5,000, EUR 3,000 and EUR 2,000) plus cooperation with Vodafone Open Lab to develop the idea into a real product and or service and seven other price winners will receive devices like the iPad Pro, iPhone 7 or Vodafone Smart Premium. The winners will be announced at the end of February 2017 and receive their price at the Cebit trade fair in March 2017.
