We’re delighted to be participating at theSmart Cities Week show this year, which has become the go-to destination where government leaders come to see cutting edge technologies, real-world solutions and proven strategies.

SensorInsight®, an Internet of Things (IoT) solution provider, announced today it will be exhibiting at Smart Cities Week in Washington DC at the “Innovation Alley” to showcase the latest in sensor design and implementation. .At the show SensorInsight will be unveiling its new offerings on large-scale Environmental Sensor Deployments with its partners, Senet, and Libelium. Known as one of the IoT industry’s most important events, it will be held at the Walter E. Washington Convention Center, from September 27 – 29, 2016.

“We’re delighted to be participating at the Smart Cities Week show this year, which has become the go-to destination where government leaders come to see cutting edge technologies, real-world solutions and proven strategies to build more livable, workable and sustainable cities,” said Joey Bernal, Co-founder and President of SensorInsight®, and CTO and Managing Partner at Element Blue.

The Obama Administration is lending its support to the second-annual Smart Cities Week. The White House, which kicked off last year’s inaugural event by announcing a sweeping smart cities initiative, says it will again bring leaders together to discuss new steps to help cities thrive.

Over 75 cities across 40 states were represented last year, with over 1800 attendees from even more cities expected this year- all with a common goal of working together to develop and build a better future for cities and their citizens. New cities that signed up this year include: Portland, Columbus, Colorado Springs, Boston, Orlando and many others.

A team of SensorInsight executives will be on hand at the “Innovation Alley” to speak with during the event including: Joey Bernal, Co-founder and President; Steven Gerhardt, Co-founder and Managing Partner; and Nigel Jawahir, Technical Associate. Smart Cities Week is sponsored by such industry titans as AT&T, Hitachi, and GE among others.

SensorInsight Showcases Large-Scale Environmental Monitoring Deployments

At the event, SensorInsight® will feature its new offerings on large-scale Environmental Sensor Deployments with its partners, Senet and Libelium. This new monitoring solution can be used to detect potentially hazardous conditions in urban areas, schools, hospitals, and factories. Additionally, this solution can detect potential forest fire conditions, leading to faster response times and improved public safety. By analyzing and sharing monitoring data with their communities, municipal governments can work in conjunction with their citizens to take actions to identify problems in a geographical area.

Environmental Monitoring Air Quality and Pollution

SensorInsight is piloting The Environmental Protection Agency’s (EPA’s) New Sensor Scale. The EPA monitors air quality with a national network of sensors that collect regional data for enforcement of and research on the Clean Air Act and National Ambient Air Quality standards. The EPA Air Quality Index (AQI) is designed for regulatory monitoring and to calculate the health effects from exposure to toxic environments over longer periods. The Sensor Scale has been designed to help citizen scientists and non-regulatory users to understand quickly how local real-time monitoring may impact them.

The EPA designed the Sensor Scale to be used with non-regulatory, commercial sensors that collect information in real-time that can be then shared and validated against regulatory monitors.

SensorInsight’s® Air Quality and Pollution Pilot Version 1 shows Minute Particle Pollutions (PM 2.5) Readings as Low 0-29 μg/m3 Medium 30-69 μg/m3 High 70-499 μg/m3 Very High ≥500 μg/m3. Users can enjoy outdoor activities by referencing the Air Quality Index to plan outdoor activities and may consider adjusting outdoor activities, especially if ozone sensitivity exists.
