Here's how to track Santa using Alexa this Christmas Eve

While we might not spot Santa on his sleigh this year, we’ll know exactly where he is at any given moment.

This Christmas Eve, starry-eyed kids can follow Kris Kringle’s every stop by asking Amazon’s Alexa to find him.

Amazon is teaming with KAYAK for this holiday promotion. Alexa’s AI is smart, but KAYAK has a connection that can’t be beat by any type of smart tech. According to a press release, the travel aggregator will know Santa’s location “using a combination of navigation software, algorithms and insider-elf intelligence from North Pole Central Command,” in order to “pinpoint Kris Kringle’s location during his holiday flight.”

Sounds like Santa needs to shore up his workforce security — he’s got a snitch.

It’s simple: just start with an Alexa-enabled device and say “Alexa, ask KAYAK to track Santa.” That will kick off the search, and Alexa will be ready for other questions throughout the night with KAYAK now in its system.

You can query “Alexa, ask KAYAK when will Santa be in Boston?” or, if the kids are really anxious, “Alexa, ask KAYAK when Santa will be here?”

Google Home will offer a similar type of service, along with its extensive Santa Tracker Village page and app. That said, there don’t appear to be any type of magical, North Pole-sourced leaks helping with Google’s tracking system. Even on Christmas Eve, the competition between Google and Amazon won’t die down.

Just don’t set up an Echo speaker and a Google Home to ask each other where Santa is. When they’re not on the same page, the kids might start asking questions you’re not quite ready to answer.
