CNET's CES Schedule of Programming, Events and News

Dec 22, 2016

PRESS RELEASE:

This year at CES, CNET will debut the Smart Home Matrix, a new site feature that is designed to help consumers navigate the nuances of smart home technology. Available exclusively on CNET, it will also be on display for demos at CNET’s Tech West Booth at CES 2017. CNET’s Smart Home Matrix is the only tool on the market that lets consumers quickly discover which connected devices work with each other, and what features they provide.

CNET’s Smart Home Matrix matches over 100 different smart devices, such as lighting, thermostats and locks, with all major connected home platforms, such as Amazon Alexa, Google Home and Apple HomeKit. The Matrix will be updated by CNET’s editorial staff as new products come to market or as existing devices receive new compatibility upgrades.

“We’ve seen smart home technology increasingly take prominence at CES with more products announced each year,” said Mark Larkin, SVP and GM at CNET. “From our own testing in the CNET Smart Home, we understand one of the largest hurdles in adopting smart home technology is getting multiple devices to work together. Our Smart Home Matrix helps consumers do just that by letting them know what devices are compatible with each other.”

As part of its ongoing effort to help consumers better understand how technology is changing our lives, CNET will also hold a number of expert panels featuring some of the industry’s leading minds, including:
