A new update for the Android Wear 2.0 got smartwatch fans excited with the new features it will bring to the wearable device. This is also expected to provide tough competition to the Apple Watch.
Specs and features
Daily Star reported that among the major upgrades for the Android Wear 2.0 update is the Google Assistant, a digital assistant similar to Apple’s Siri and Amazon’s Alexa. The feature was initially introduced to the Google Pixel and Pixel XL.
With the help of the Google Assistant, Android Wear users are able to respond to messages and even ask for directions. They can also search the Internet and set reminders on their devices.
New smartwatches
This new update was introduced along with the launching of the of two new devices: the LG Watch Sport and the LG Watch Style. The smartwatches offer power and style to fans who are particular on both functionality and design.
On the other hand, the Apple Watch still led in terms of sales for last year recording a 12 percent increase, The Star added. Eighty percent of the revenue of the smartwatch industry reportedly came from the sale of the Apple Watch.
Apple Watch Series 2
The Series 2 of the Apple Watch has received positive reviews because of its improved performance and GPS chip. The waterproofing for the Apple Watch 2 Series has also been improved but the design for the first release was maintained by the brand.
Despite the maintained supremacy of the Apple Watch, TechRadar noted that Android Wear was the first smartwatch to introduce LTE connectivity. It allows users to easily connect to the Internet especially when they are on the go.
