Hewlett-Packard Enterprise has announced new additions to its enterprise data security and IoT security portfolios, part of a push by the company to bring more of those types of security solutions through the channel.
The new HPE SecureData for Hadoop and IoT solution, launched at the 2017 RSA Conference in San Francisco, Calif. this week, brings the HPE Format-preserving Encryption (FPE) to the extensive data flows that are created by the Internet of Things.
The launch also adds Apache NiFi, a platform for automating the movement of data between disparate system, integration with NIST standards and FIPS compliant technology.

Sheryl Wharff, global product marketing at HPE, said the new products are key to securing the massive amount of data created by the growing number of devices in the Internet of Things (IoT) era. The solutions p validate the data created by IoT devices, as well as secure them at rest, in transit and in use. That security will help partners reach the true value of IoT through data and analytics, she said.
“This is a very exciting addition to help our partners drive big data and the Internet of Things solutions,” Wharff said. “For our partners, this brings a different level of security that today anyone else in the market can’t touch.”
The launch builds on an HPE pledge last year to move more of its security portfolio through the channel, starting with its data security portfolio, which had previously only been sold direct. Wharfff said the new products are a sign of HPE’s continued channel commitment.
“We see this has being a huge potential for our partners… We have been working to bring our data security solutions into the channel,” Wharff said. “We see this as bringing real leadership to the market and real opportunities for our channel partners who are adopting secure data solutions.”
HPE also announced the beta of ArcSight Investigate, a tool that acts as a search and investigate tool for security analysts in the security operations center by embedding HPE Vertica and then integrating Hadoop.
Travis Grandpre, director of product marketing for HPE, said the products address a growing need HPE sees in the marketplace for more intuitive tools for security threat investigation. He said the launch will be a benefit to both traditional reseller partners, as well as its growing base of MSPs.
“This is not yesterday’s ArcSight,” Grandpre said. “We are changing the face of that by opening up our architecture, by introducing intuitive interfaces and taking advantage of the speed and power of products like Vertica. This is not the Arcsight that people have ever known. It is a really exciting time for us to change the face of that and define what the security center needs to be.”
