Google has been consistently trying to improve Google Assistant – the company’s recent venture into AI on the smartphone. The company has now rolled out a new update for Assistant on Google Pixel, which introduces a new feature called “Home Control”, allowing it to control smart home devices like Philips Hue, Honeywell, Belkin’s WeMo, Nest, and Samsung SmartThings.
“Home Control” on Google Assistant
With the introduction of this feature, you do not need to invest $129 for Google Home. Home Control brings the ability to control all the devices from one place, eradicating the need to manage separate dedicated apps for each device. Furthermore, users can also give Assistant voice commands in order to control their smart home devices.
You can manually access Home Control by simply going into the settings of Google Assistant and tapping “Home Control”. This will display a list of synchronized devices – more devices can also be added using the “+” symbol at the bottom.
Currently, only Pixel and Pixel XL owners can utilize this feature. With Google’s plans to roll out Assistant to more devices in the future, the LG G6 may be next in line to sport it along with Android TV, if rumors are to be believed.
