Now you can use voice prompts like: “Alexa, ask Kayak to track a flight” or “Alexa, ask Kayak where I can go for $300?”
Amazon’s Alexa just learned a new skill: how to plan and track a trip.
The cloud-based voice service that powers Amazon’s Echo speaker now works with travel site Kayak, letting you access and share information about upcoming trips with just your voice. The new integration also makes it easy to discover places to go within your budget and search for flights, hotels, and rental cars.
Once you get it set up, you’ll be able to use voice prompts like: “Alexa, ask Kayak to track a flight,” “Alexa, ask Kayak where I can go for $300,” or “Alexa, ask Kayak to search for hotels in Barcelona.”
The feature works on Alexa-enabled devices like the Echo, Tap, Echo Dot, and Amazon Fire TV. To try it out, just turn on the Kayak skill in the Settings menu within the Alexa app.
This is just the latest in a series of new skills Alexa has mastered. The voice assistant can also add events to your Google calendar, dim your lights, keep tabs on your fitness, and pay your bills.
“Alexa now has over 800 skills, and our customers are loving the convenience of having a wide-range of third party skills available to them,” Amazon Alexa Director Rob Pulciani said in a statement. “With Kayak, Alexa can now offer helpful insights on flights, hotels, and rental cars, all by just using your voice.”
Amazon, meanwhile, is also making its Kindle e-readers more accessible for visually impaired customers with the addition of VoiceView. Already available on Fire tablets, VoiceView lets visually impaired individuals read Kindle books and navigate Paperwhite devices via speech feedback.
