Amazon’s virtual assistant Alexa, comes on the Echo and Echo Dot, and those sales were up 9 times compared to last year’s holiday.
According to Amazon, Alexa can be used for many different things, including lending a helping hand in the kitchen. The most requested recipes were for turkey, prime rib, sugar cookies and chocolate chip cookies.
Experts say fitbits were another big seller this Christmas holiday. The Fitibit app was the top free app downloaded on Apple’s IOS store on Sunday, suggesting many people received them as gifts. The app for the Amazon Echo, Snapchat, Super Mario Run and Youtube rounded out the other top apps downloaded that day.
Hatchimals, another top seller this season are reportedly not all they cracked up to be. Parents are claiming the toys won’t hatch. They are supposed to hatch from an egg when children knock, tap or rub on the shell after about 30 minutes of playtime. Unhappy customers are airing their frustrations with the toy on Twitter. Spin Master, the toy’s creator is asking customers to contact them via direct message on Twitter. We’re told it has been difficult to get a response from the company.
