With the new update between Sonos and Spotify mobile app called Spotify Connect, there has been a confusion regarding its setup procedures. Here are the steps you need to follow to use this feature:
First, you have to set up your speakers properly with Sonos’ app and check if you have a Spotify Premium account. The account must be connected to your Sonos’ app and have a Spotify app on your mobile device.
Second, download the latest version of Sonos’ app which is the Sonos 7.0 with 96.3 MB. It is now available for free download. With this, you have to update your Sonos hardware as well. When downloading is done, you have to create your Sonos account and there you have it. Open your Spotify, play one amazing song and tap “device available” on screen and you can now stream music.
Make sure you are connected to the same Wi-Fi network that you Sonos speakers have. However, Sonos’ application beta program has set its limitations, it was only compatible with Android, Windows, and MacOS devices.
After Google Cast support in 2015, Sonos became the latest service that enables the streaming service’s assistance connection protocol. At the press conference last August, Sonos announced that there will be a plan to add the Amazon’s Alexa Voice compatibility next year.
