The problem with an always-connected home is the need to have things connected, you’d need extra wiring or at least WiFi capabilities, an upgraded connection – it just never ends.
Thinking about the power consumption, extra materials and complexity: I have enough real-world stress to have to worry about not being able to access my fridge from the couch.
It’s nice for people who like showing off but I could live without lights that turn on when I clap my hands. What I’d really like to see is tech to make life easier for people who do need help navigating homes – the physically challenged and elderly, for instance.
The only thing I’d like to be hooked up to the Internet are my phones and computers, and may there never come a day where I’m too lazy to just click on a switch.
As far as I’m concerned, the Tony Starks and Mark Zuckerbergs can have their smart homes and I’ll keep my weight under control by actually moving to turn my lights off.
