Zenbo isn’t the only robot you can see in any geek’s smart home. Of course, the ASUS robot is just one and we knew that the moment it was launched, lots of other tech companies have made their decision to start working on their own. We know a time will come when homes, schools, stores, and offices will have more machines than humans.
We can go on and on listing down robots and smart home devices available already but let’s focus now on this new product from Omate. The brand is more popular for its smartwatches serving different niches from women to kids to grandpops. Recently, the company partnered with Amazon to integrate Alexa to the Omate Rise Carbon Fiber Limited Edition. This time, Omate ventures into the smart home by introducing Yumi. Yup, the robot is a look-alike of Zenbo that they could be twins.
Yumi runs Omate RAI 1.0 based on Android with Amazon Alexa. It comes equipped with a 5-inch HD display with 720 x 1280 pixel resolution, Ultra pixel camera, 1GB RAM, 8GB onboard storage, volume touch sensor, dual stereo speakers, USB, HDMI port, and a 3500Ah battery. Design-wise, Yumi looks sleek with some polished finish painting, UV coating, ambient LED ring on its “tummy” area and ambient LED at the back of his head. The speakers deliver audio by Arkamsys Certified while the connectivity ports are found at its rear.
Just like Zenbo, you can ask Yumi to do anything for you. Being powered with the Alexa voice assistant, we can probably say it’s schizophrenic. So is it Yumi or Alexa now? It’s up to you.
Yumi is Omate’s very first home robot. It’s also the first one in the world built on AI with Amazon Alexa right from the ground up. It seems Alexa really is becoming a popular platform we’re guessing more will follow suit.
