Mark Zuckerberg posted on his Facebook account showing Jarvis, named after Iron Man’s sidekick, an artificial intelligence that he built to run his home and for his family. Zuckerberg announced in January about his plans on creating an AI that could soon be used applied in every household.
The AI Jarvis has several features like waking up Zuckerberg in the morning, turning the lights off at night, adjusting room temperature, helping him get dressed by shooting one of his gray t-shirts, entertaining and monitoring Zuckerberg’s daughter baby Max, making toast for breakfast, use facial recognition for visitors and even play music.
Zuckerberg spent between 100 and 150 hours building Jarvis for his home. Jarvis is somewhat the other version of Amazon’s Alexa service that lets Zuckerberg and his wife Priscilla Chan control Jarvis by using a custom iPhone app or a Facebook Messenger bot to turn lights on and off, open the front gate for their visitors, and can even wake up their one-year-old daughter Max.
In October, Mark Zuckerberg posted on Facebook seeking for suggestions on who would be the best option to voice Jarvis. A facebook user commented on the video, “Morgan Freeman is absolutely brilliant.” But he also mentioned that he tried to experiment with other voices including Terminator star Arnold Schwarzenegger.
The AI system that Zuckerberg built isn’t yet functional as what is shown in the video, but the video still shows how cool his robot assistant is even though it’s still very far from the actual Jarvis from the Iron Man movies. Zuckerberg mentioned in a post on Tuesday, that he’ll continue using the AI system that he built for his home.
He said, “Although this challenge is ending, I’m sure I’ll continue improving Jarvis since I use it every day and I’m always finding new things I want to add.” Zuckerberg is yet to add more features to Jarvis that could include an Android app, connect more appliances and install more voice terminals around his house.
