Soon you will be able to make payments through Google Assistant with your Pixel and Nexus phones. This hint was provided by a beta version of the Google App; users might be able to pay for items they purchase via voice commands.
The beta update of the application might have payment options, similar to Amazon’s Alexa. It may allow users to perform various tasks, such as ordering an Uber or purchasing clothing items. Additions to the services will also include an expansion of third-party APIs. Many things that have been seen in the APK file suggest that these rumors of mobile payments via the assistant might actually be true.
It is not yet known what exactly will the assistant be used to specifically pay for, but it is possible to be very similar to Amazon’s Alexa. Uber is already available on Google Home; users might be able to shop on Google Express Shopping. Users may be required to provide an address for the delivery, which might be taken care of by Google API.
These reports have been made by XDA developers who believe that these features are about to come very soon. Google Assistant has managed to become more productive and handy in the last few months, and may soon begin to give tough competition to Amazon’s Alexa. This new shopping feature will also be ideal for users who enjoy shopping online, and should go well with Google Home, which was previously known as Google Cast.
If Google Assistant enables users to shop, it will surely have more to offer than Alexa, which is mostly focused on online shopping. However, customers interested in this feature are advised not to hold their breath, since there has been no official word over these speculations or when this update will come out officially. It has been seen in the latest APK, but it has not come to Google Play Store as of yet.
