OKLAHOMA CITY – Love’s Travel Stops has a new partner in its quest to keep food safe and secure throughout its supply chain: technology. The truck stop chain has a new platform based on machine-to-machine technology via the Internet of Things (IoT) connectivity, Chain Store Age reports.
Digi International provided the food temperature monitoring and task logging system to help the convenience store simplify tasks and adhere to public health ordinances. “Part of our core values is to ‘focus on the customer in everything we do,’ and embrace innovative thinking,” said Joe Cotton, director of restaurant services for Love’s Travel Stops.
The application assists Love’s in capturing and managing daily jobs and temperature charts on any smartphone. Wireless temperature sensors and IoT technology provide consistent results and easier compliance with food-safety regulations.
This year, Love’s introduced three new restaurant concepts, bringing Love’s total number of quick-service restaurant partners to 19. Love’s opened two Dunkin’ Donuts locations at the travel stops in Sikeston, Mo., and Canaan, N.Y. IHOP Express restaurants are now featured at six Love’s Travel Stops in Blytheville, Ark.; South Jacksonville, Ill.; Norfolk and Sidney, Neb.; Okmulgee, Okla.; and White House, Tenn. The travel stop in Liberal, Kan., boasts Love’s first Taco John’s restaurant.
