LG G6 latest news and update: Flagship smartphone to be the first non-pixel device with Google …

Probably the most hyped up smartphone in the corner in 2017, LG G6 is not be toyed with. Even months from its official unveiling next month, the South Korean company’s next flagship iteration is already packed with game-changing features and specifications. And if those are not enough to jazz up its imminent launching, the forthcoming smartphone is getting yet another round of spotlight.

CNET has reported that LG G6 is going to be the very first, non-pixel handset that will be equipped with Google Assistant. As such, the forthcoming iteration will allow its users to the usual voice command functionalities along with an access to Google’s chatbot-style interface.

Previously, the same publication has indicated that LG G6 was intended to use Amazon’s Alexa. At the last minute, the plan did not pan out as Alexa or LG itself may not be as ready for the support. Had LG officially sported Alexa, it would have been the first smartphone to arm the AI assistant. Meanwhile, Amazon’s digital assistant can be currently experienced via lamps and fridges which debut at CES this year.

Alongside Google Assistant, LG G6 is also slated to come with a 5.7-inch display with 2:1 aspect ration, a premium glass and metal structure and surprisingly, a headphone jack. In addition, it will be equipped with its predecessor’s dual-camera system along with a fingerprint sensor on its back.

Other features of LG G6 include the removal of its battery to give way for a more water-resistant functionality. On the other hand, it will also be coming without the modular add on which was spotted in LG G5. It will also be fueled by Qualcomm Snapdragon 821, a decision that puzzled most of its consumers. Accordingly, the company had to choose the chipset over the more-preferred 835 as it didn’t want to delay its release.

LG G6 is slated to be unveiled on Feb. 26th at the Mobile World Congress trade show in Barcelona.
