There is already leak renders as to what the upcoming LG G6 will look like and also information regarding its specs and features. However, there is one crucial piece of information that is missing regarding the device’s features that many tech enthusiasts are asking: Will LG’s new flagship smartphone have Amazon’s Alexa or the Google Assistant?
According to The Verge, a report from CNET claims that the LG G6 which is set to be unveiled next month at the Mobile World Congress trade show in Barcelona will definitely ditch Alexa and feature the Google Assistant instead. If this is true, then it will make the LG G6 the first ever non-pixel smartphone packed with Google Assistant.
What’s The Basis Of This Claim?
In the report at CNET, LG is said to be playing it safe with its next flagship smartphone. The report then further added that LG actually intended to have Amazon’s Alexa, but shelved the plan because it didn’t feel quite ready just yet.
Sadly, there was no mention as to whom CNET got this interesting information from, except to the preferred source as a “person” who is familiar with the company’s plans. However, despite all uncertainties, we can only assume for now that this person could be someone who has access to LG’s plans.
Other News About The LG G6
Regarding the thing about LG G6 playing it safe, it is also worth questioning if the company is really “playing it safe” at every turn. One decision that could be debatable is LG’s decision to use the Snapdragon 821 instead of the Snapdragon 835 chipset.
Now, some may argue that choosing the Snapdragon 821 chip is playing it safe, because of two things: one is it has already been tested and featured on other high-end smartphones which produce great performance results. The second one is LG didn’t want to hold up the launch of the device which was mentioned by the “person” who is familiar with LG’s plans.
What do you think? Was this a smart move by LG or the opposite?
