Intel has named a former ARM executive to lead its Internet of Things division.
The company said Tom Lantzsch will become senior vice president and general manager of Intel’s IoT Group. Previously, he was the executive vice president of strategy at ARM, which is also a key player in the IoT market.
Intel’s move highlights how it is increasingly going outside of the company to bring in leaders. Keep in mind that last year Intel put Dr. Venkata “Murthy” Renduchintala, a former Qualcomm exec, in charge of the company’s client, IoT and systems architecture group.
Renduchintala said that Lantzsch will be an “accelerant” for IoT innovation.
Intel also announced that it will create an Automated Driving Group that will focus on the future of driving and automated cars. That group will be led by Doug Davis, a long-time Intel exec.
