Hyundai Blue Link now available with Amazon Echo's Alexa app

Hyundai has revealed a new way that allows car owners to interact with their vehicle from the comfort of their couch. Hyundai owners can now control multiple car functions through voice commands using the Amazon Echo’s Alexa app. With the new Blue Link skill available for Alexa, users can lock, unlock and start their car right from inside their home. Hyundai owners simply sync an existing Blue Link account to the app and from there, they have full control. Interactions include remotely operating climate control and using the horn and lights. Owners of the new Hyundai IONIQ Electric, IONIQ Plug-in and Sonata Plug-in can even use it to start and stop charging their cars.

Hyundai’s Blue Link system has previously been controllable via the app for smartphones, Android Wear and the Apple Watch smartwatch. Most of these functions are already available, but expanding its availability to the Echo’s Alexa users only adds to its convenience and is sure to bring plenty of new users.

“Our customers increasingly want more ways to interact with their vehicles, especially when they are hustling to get out the door,” said Barry Ratzlaff, executive director, digital business planning and connected operations for Hyundai Motor America. “Linking smart devices like the Amazon Echo and Apple Watch to vehicles via Blue Link continues to fill that desire. Allowing consumers to send commands to their car is just the beginning.”

Amazon Alexa’s Blue Link skill is compatible with all second generation Blue Link equipped vehicles. Blue Link is available for all 2017 vehicles and the majority of their 2016 lineup.

Hyundai’s Blue Link functions can all be controlled through the Amazon Echo’s Alexa app.
