(WXYZ) – You could say the future of Amazon’s Alexa Voice Service is looking bright.
But maybe that’s because it’s now embedded into a lamp.
General Electric recently revealed its special LED light that has the voice service right inside. It has microphones and a speaker.
Now, people can ask their lamp questions with no need for a standalone Echo unit or other device. It’s meant to simplify the user experience, according to the company.
The lamp, GE says, is the first revealed use of the Alexa Voice Service within a lighting product.
Director of Alexa says in a statement that “voice is the future of home automation.”
This high-tech lamp is expected to be available for preorder early next year.
