IU Health Leaving Health Insurance Marketplace
Indiana University Health Plans is dropping its individual policies from the Health Insurance Marketplace. The insurance arm of IU health says the move is the result of a restructuring of its product offerings for 2017 due to “heightened financial uncertainty” of Obamacare in Indiana. IU Health Plans says those who purchased individual policies on the marketplace should look for alternative coverage for 2017.
Retailer Bringing Hotel to Indy
New York-based home products retailer West Elm has named Indianapolis among five cities in which it will open its new chain of hotels. The Indy hotel will be located at the site of the former Coca-Cola bottling plant on Mass Ave.
Progress Continues at Biosciences Research Institute
Leaders from the Indiana Biosciences Research Institute believe a recent $750,000 grant secured by one of its researchers could help spark other activity in the future. The funding from the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation will support Teresa Mastracci’s work involving treatments to slow or stop the progression of Type 1 diabetes.
New Haven Company Scores Military Contract
The U.S. Department of Defense has awarded a $13.7 million contract to New Haven-based Hupp Aerospace. The three-year contract calls for the delivery of medium truck electrical parts kits for the U.S. Army.
Gubernatorial Candidates in Debate Spotlight
The first debate for Indiana’s three top candidates for governor is now in the books. Democrat John Gregg, Libertarian Rex Bell and Republican Eric Holcomb took to the stage at Lawrence North High School and discussed some of the top education issues facing Hoosiers, including addressing a looming teacher shortage, funding for post-secondary education and wages. Each candidate had an opportunity to bring up a topic of their choosing.
