DHS official urges manufacturers to use new Internet of Things security 'principles'

Amid recent Internet of Things-enabled cyber attacks, manufacturers developing connected devices should take up the Department of Homeland Security’s new “strategic principles” for IoT security to mitigate the threat, according to a senior DHS official.

President-elect Trump, Republican-controlled Congress, will enhance private-sector strike-back capability

Trump likely will seek to provide companies with more authority and responsibility to strike back against hackers, within a  legal framework that still must be set. He also will add more cybersecurity funding for law enforcement and the military. With Republicans maintaining congressional control, he won’t get much pushback.
