Confirmed: LG G6 to ship with Integrated Google Assistant, ditch Removable battery for water …

Not so long ago, it emerged that the LG G6 will be shipping with the 2016 Qualcomm Snapdragon 821 SoC instead of the new Snapdragon 835, all thanks to the Samsung and its upcoming Galaxy S8.

LG is expected to unveil the G6 at the MWC 2017 show in Spain this coming month and even though it will not ship with the fastest processor around, the South Korean tech giant has other ideas to make it a worthy competitor in the smartphone market.

Last week, it emerged that LG G6 was set to debut with either the Google Assistant or Amazon Alexa out of the box. Well, it seems that the company has settled on the former. Even though it’s newer and less-established than Alexa, the Google Assistant has been expanding its services, features, and capabilities at an alarming rate, something that should give LG an ample time of developing along with it. The G6 will now join the Google Pixel and Pixel XL in coming with an integrated AI Assistant that can carry out a wide range of activities.

LG is no stranger when it comes to using slightly older processors in its flagships. It did so with the 2015 lineup, but back then, it was said that the Snapdragon 810 had overheating issues. This time, Samsung is in charge of making the Snapdragon 835 and as it is, mass production will begin in April, right after the release of the Galaxy S8. In short, the first units of the chipset will mostly be meant for the S8 and S8 Plus, with other parties joining in later. LG did not want to pass the chance of unveiling the G6 during this MWC 2017 show and as such, it decided to go with the older 821 SoC.

If you feel LG G6 won’t be great with a 2016 processor on board, the company is throwing in a bunch of other features to make it up. However, there is one major sacrifice that is set to be made. Many were still keeping it LG just because of the removable battery feature. But this time, the G6 will drop this feature and in place of it, you get a water-resistant body. The good side of the story is that there is no modular design that made the LG G5 such an underwhelming phone despite all the innovative efforts that LG put in.
