CEDIA has announced that its latest CPD – dedicated to smart home cabling – has been officially accredited by the Royal Institute Building and Architecture (RIBA), the British Institute of Interior Design (BIID) and the South African Institute of Architects (SAIA).
The course for ‘Smart Home Cabling Requirements for The Modern Home’ was introduced following the success for CEDIA’s Smart Home Recommended Wiring Guidelines, created in response to the growing reliance on complex cabling infrastructure in smart homes.
The CPD offers guidance on how to install secure and future-proof infrastructure for specifiers providing AV services, security, lighting and home cinema installations. It identifies the key requirements for wiring a smart home installation and will help professionals understand the cabling infrastructure needed to support technology in the home, the services and benefits available using cables, and the different grade of cables used for home technology.
“There is a well-known saying within our industry – ‘the most expensive cable to install is the one you forgot the first time round’. This course has been developed to ensure that this cable will never be missed,” commented Wendy Griffiths, executive director of CEDIA EMEA. “This course explains how to ensure that the necessary infrastructure is in place to meet the needs of a modern day connected home.”
