Amazon's Top Smart-Home Picks For Summer '17

Amazon has begun a tradition of seasonal product previews for the press, and this year’s no exception.

At an exhibition space in Manhattan’s West Village, the e-tailer recently gathered an emporium’s worth of goods that it — and its customers — deem noteworthy for the upcoming summer selling season.

Nestled among the beach and backyard fare was a slew of new smart-home devices that are expected to be top-sellers among the connected crowd. Let’s have a look …

The EasyFeed automatic pet feeder by Gosh features a video camera and microphone so you can chat with your furry friend from a distance ($249).

Westinghouse’s Fire TV Edition smart 4K UHD TV is one of the first sets to offer the e-tailer’s streaming media OS.

Philips Hue White and Color Ambience Starter Kit ($180) and LED Light Strips ($90) allow users to choose from 16 million colors to “paint with light” and set the mood — and even sync the colors to music and video ($180).

Petcube Play lets owners interact with their pets while away, thanks to a 1080p video camera, two-way audio, and a remote- or auto-controlled laser pointer that keeps cats busy ($199).

Samsung’s Powerbot R7070 is an Amazon exclusive ($700).

The Wemo Mini Smart Plug, left, and the Decora Smart Plug-in Outlet from Leviton, both sell for $35 on Amazon.

First Alert’s Onelink Thermostat ($220) and Environmental Monitor ($100); the latter detects carbon monoxide and changes in temperature and humidity.
