While talking about best smart speakers, most of the people will consider Amazon Echo and Google Home. But it is surprising to know that the Amazon Echo is looking at a competition from its own parent company against the product named Amazon Tap.
Unannounced launch of the Amazon Tap
The Amazon Tap is yet another smart home device by Amazon which is smaller and cheaper than their flagship smart speaker Amazon Echo. It is a portable Bluetooth, the Wi-Fi-enabled speaker having dual stereo and Dolby processing that give clear sound effect with an extended bass response. It is manufactured to give a full 360-degree audio and smart home assistance with the Amazon’s Alexa.
Amazon Tap vs Amazon Echo
Amazon Tap’s newest update has competed against Amazon Echo because of the hands-free command capability. Similar to the Echo, Alexa can now be accessed and given voice commands using the Tap from any corner of the room.
As the Tap was designed to be a portable speaker, that portability feature alone would help its users to make a smart home. In contrast to the Echo, which needs to be plugged in, the Tap can pull up to eight hours of battery life before it has to be recharged.
Similar to Echo, the Tap can also be installed with the Alexa Skills Kit. The kit is a collection of tools that can add multiple skills to Alexa.
If you own Tap as well as Echo, though, the Tap is also capable of “echo spatial perception,” which indicates that should you give a command to Alexa and you have two Alexa-connected devices in the locality, the device which is closer will execute the command.
Along with the new update, Amazon has also brought a new life to Tap. Amazon Tap can do everything that the Echo can do and its portability helps a user to design a smartphone. Coming to the price, the Tap is cheaper than Echo by $50.
