ATLANTA – If you’ve been watching Luma’s growth over the past year and waiting to get your techie hands on their WiFi surround system, the wait is over. Luma announced they have started shipping to pre-order customers and it’s now available online. It will also be available in stores, through a partnership with Best Buy, starting in July.
Serial Entrepreneur Paul Judge is one of the founders behind Luma along with co-founder and CEO Mike Van Bruinisse. “With traditional home WiFi routers, people pay for high-speed broadband but are still stuck with dead zones and unreliability, with no security protection for the growing number of devices connected to the home network,” said Van Bruinisse. “At Luma we aim to fix all that and more.” Luma allows users to control what devices connect to the WiFi, adding guests, denying service and monitor usage from the Luma app.
Luma is also looking to be part of Smart Home systems. They are working with Amazon to integrate with their Alexa home assistant system to allow users to pause and unpause their home internet.
“It’s exciting to see Luma’s vision to bring better and faster WiFi to customers come to life with the availability of its first home system,” said Steve Rabuchin, vice president, Amazon Alexa. “We saw great promise in Luma to push forward IOT and voice technologies when we invested in the company through the Alexa Fund. The addition of an Alexa skill will bring increased functionality and make it seamless for customers to better control their home internet through their voice.”
Luma is available at getluma.com, Amazon.com and BestBuy.com. You can also pick it up at Best Buy stores starting this July.
