More companies are confirming that their third-party devices and platforms are now compatible and supported by the smart home assistant Google Home.

Google has also made its own announcement about the Google Home’s latest features and compatibility additions. Through its official blog post, the company said: “We’re introducing new home automation integrations—in addition to the ones that already exist—that work with the Google Assistant. So you can now connect your Google Assistant to Best Buy Insignia, LIFX, TP-Link and Wink.”
The multinational technology company is trying to lure in more people to get Google Home by offering more functionality, such as turning appliances on via voice command through the connection between the smart home assistant and Best Buy Insignia’s Wi-Fi Smart Plug.
Google also promised more control on living room lights without having to do much now that Google Home is compatible with Wi-Fi enabled smart bulbs manufactured by LIFX. On the other hand, plugs produced by TP-Link can now be remotely checked or activated through Google Home as well.
Consumers can also remotely check the locks on their homes as August Home Inc announced their products’ compatibility with Google Home. Earlier this week, August confirmed that the first and second generations of August Smart Locks will now start working with Google Home through the Google Assistant app.
August explained that Google Home and August locks owners will only have to say “Ok Google, ask August, lock my door” or “Ok Google, ask August if my door is locked” to maximize the home security features that this collaboration offers.
Tech Crunch reports that apart from the brands and companies mentioned above, products from Logitech Harmony, Vivint, First Alert, Rachio, Electrolux Frigidaire, Geeni, and Anova have all been confirmed to be compatible or supported by Google Home as well.
The same report noted that apart from the leading voice-activated assistants like Apple’s Siri, Amazon’s Alexa, and Samsung’s newly-introduced Bixby, other technology and electronics companies are helming their own brands of smart assistants as well, so adding more product compatibility is a good step for Google to get a good spot in the competition.
