In an attempt to simplify the smart home, D&H Distributing will begin offering bundled solutions that work with emerging smart-home hubs, including Amazon Alexa and wireless mesh computing technologies.
Mesh technologies help distribute Wi-Fi throughout a home, reducing connectivity “dead spots” so a smart home platform can perform more seamlessly, said D&H. The distributor will now offer the Linksys Velop whole-home mesh Wi-Fi solution, the Netgear Orbi home Wi-Fi system and the Amped Wireless Ally whole-home smart Wi-Fi system.
For retailers accommodating their Amazon Alexa users, D&H will offer a range of compatible devices that add automation to every room in the home — and outdoors. These include smart plugs from TP-Link, thermostats from Honeywell, universal remotes from Logitech, network cameras from EZViz and robot vacuums from Neato.
“Distributor, retailer, and dealers serve as leaders in the industry. As such, we need to educate consumers in order to address and resolve the complexity of the connected home, making home owners aware of the newly emerging solutions that unify the terrific array of Wi-Fi-enabled devices now on the market,” said Tim Billing, D&H’s vendor management and purchasing VP. “By marketing these solutions together, we’ll make it easier for homeowners to put these devices into practice in their own surroundings, finally making the concept of a true, convenient and seamless automated home technology environment a reality.”
