LG was certified by UL on its WebOS 3.5 Smart TV. The company proves strict security after receiving 2900-1 Cybersecurity Assurance Program.
LG’s WebOS 3.5 Security Manager was the very first Smart TV which receives certification from UL despite strict compliance. High-Def Digest reported UL certification is one of the world’s foremost experts in safety, security and sustainability.

Basically, before the award was given, the WebOS 3.5 Security Manager was first tested for malware. UL assure if the WebOS 3.5 is capable of resisting threats and can really help protect the users and their private information. Likewise, the WebOS 3.5 was tested for its proper authentication capability, software falsification as well as protection from hackers.
UL is an American safety firm responsible for consulting and certification in 46 countries. And UL CAP is a hard to earn certification on various kinds of connected home devices including TV.
Aside from the UL’s 2900-1 Cybersecurity Assurance Program or CAP, another minor certification was given to LG. For at the same time, the LG’s WebOS 3.5 Security Manager has also been certified for its effective Digital Rights Management Capabilities on its smart TV applications.
Tim Alessi, LG’s head of product marketing at LG Electronics, USA confirmed that it is really the security which is the top priority of their WebOS platform. He further stated how happy he was when UL finally certified their company’s product as the first to receive the CAP.
The UL CAP certification inspires LG to expand smart home security, and home automation on all their upcoming products. Soon, people can expect a tougher security on LG’s 2017 OLED and Super UHD TV collections among other products to be released soon.
