Conexant, the Irvine-based semiconductor and voice solutions provider, has partnered with Amazon to provide audio and voice technology for its virtual assistant Alexa.
The companies are releasing a development kit that will allow manufacturers to develop more cost-efficient products for Alexa.
Steve Rabuchin, Vice President Amazon Alexa, said that Conexant’s technology would allow developers to achieve a better user experience.
AudioSmart allows a user’s voice to be recognized from anywhere in the room and distinguished from other noises like music.
The cost of the kit was not provided.
Conexant emerged from bankruptcy in 2013 after it was bought by hedge fund billionaire George Soros’ QP SFM Capital Holdings Ltd.
